Opened doors April 2023
Bedminster has been recently named Bristol’s ‘Arts District’. Silver & Steel is proudly on East Street in Bedminster, South Bristol.
Studio refit was part funded by the Vacant Commercial Property Grant Scheme from Bristol City Council.
Female founded & owned by Bethany Morton
During the first 3 months open, Silver & Steel offered a ‘locals workshop price’ for people living on or around East Street to help make the studio locally accessible discounted to 50%.
Silver & Steel offers a concession price for workshops via booking platform YUUP available on a trust basis.
Silver & Steel’s Gallery space was curated into rotating exhibitions that ran for 6 months during the first year open. The first exhibition (Sheer) platformed 3 Bristol based designers, all women, who had never been stocked in a gallery before.
The second exhibition featured a designer who teaches at Birmingham School of Jewellery and has work in the British Museum and Goldsmith’s hall.
Silver & Steel collaborated with Clothmod on their sustainable fashion Runway in May 2024, providing the jewellery.
